Great staff! Very attentive.
This facility is staffed with the kindest, knowledgeable people in the business. From the minute my uncle was admitted the staff were kind, patient and caring. I was especially impressed with our case worker KoKo Mohammad and Lander Ramirez in Accounting. You are in very good hands at Balboa Nursing care. You can’t put a price on peace of mind… Thank You!
This place IS HORRIBLE !! They do not care about the patients there. My grandmother has been there for a week and they have not bathed her since. They act like they dont want to work there. TRASH
Very empress with the facility and the excellent care this staff provide the patient.
I picked a good time to visit a patient there.
First time visiting and was impressed with the facility along with the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff.
My elderly relative has a traumatic brain injury and for years has been a resident of Balboa Nursing Rehab Facility. This injury requires family members to meet him at all medical appointments. He is transported by private insurance medical transportation. Prior to leaving the facility, Balboa Nursing Rehab nursing staff is responsible for verifying the transporter’s identity and providing them with the required patient medical documentation for review by the physician/practitioner. The documents packet contains his photo identification, insurance info, Balboa Nursing address/phone#, medical history, current meds, allergies, immunization, emergency contacts, transportation company name/telephone number, pickup & return times, etc. The transporter should officially identify himself, his company at the Nurses Station, obtain the documents packet to give to appointment staff when checking in. Without this packet consulting office/ physician cannot provide continuity of care & has no idea who the patient is, whether he has insurance, ID, medical history, diagnostic procedures, allergies, current meds, required immunizations, etc. Again, because of my relatives traumatic brain injury, we always meet him at the appointments. Even though we’re always early, sometimes the transporter arrives before we do. Significantly & critically if the transporter doesn’t check in with Balboa Nursing staff to identify himself and his company, doesn’t pick up required documents packet & just carries him away, I consider this negligence and all kinds of horrors can ensue. On Feb 23, and March 09, 2026 the transporter was late for appointments. From appointment site I called Balboa Nursing and asked Charge Nurse Daniel if my relative had been picked up. In each instance Daniel went to the room and told me the transporter “must have sneaked in and picked him up, but didn’t pick up documents packet.” So, I was stuck at the doctors’ office trying to locate copies of the insurance info & a copy of his ID, etc. In first instance, the transporter just left my relative outside the doctor’s office, rushed away without reporting his presence, identifying himself, nor his time for return ride back to Balboa Nursing. In second instance, the transporter was 30 minutes late and indignant when asked why was he late & where was the medical packet. I called Balboa Nursing and asked Charge Nurse Daniel why the info packet wasn’t brought for appointment. Again his reply was, “He must have sneaked out without it.” I consider this an inappropriate and unacceptable response. Of note, is this was the second time, and I had previously asked Daniel to make sure that the packet accompanied my relative to all future medical appointments. I am extremely concerned about how the staff and facility dealt with the safe transfer of a brain injured patient. Anything could have happened to my relative if we were not present. Balboa and the nursing staff needs to “DO BETTER” to avoid a potentially negative and problematic outcome for future medical appointments. My relative has three appointments next week.
Staff all seems very caring.
I think this facility is better than most I have seen. The security is great. Everyone has to check-in and check-in and out but it is easy. The staff seems very attentive and the facility is clean. Parking in the neighborhood is difficult but that is not the fault of the facility. There are various activities if the patients want to participate. I am just a visitor so I cannot comment on cost

My mom was well cared for and loved at Balboa. I always knew she was safe. They communicated very well with me regarding all aspects of her care. The Social Services department is so helpful and clear with their communication. The PT, OT, ST dept is amazing. The nurses and CNAs are the best. The food is consistently very good…I know, I ate it myself. The cleaning crew and maintenance crew are always working to keep the facility in top shape. The wonderful laundry crew keeps everyone in clean clothes and bedding. They have parties and events for the residents. Bingo, arts and crafts, movies, books, and my favorite…manicure Mondays. Mom was there for over 3 months. She was unable to walk when she was admitted. Now she is walking around the house again. I am so happy we chose Balboa for her care and rehabilitation.
This is one of the nicest nursing homes and rehabilitation centers that I’ve ever been to. The staff is so friendly!! I love the way the joke with the patients. They are helpful and attentive, BOTH to the patients and visitors! 🫶
Today at Balboa nursing care facility and rehab center the activities department organize a walk to Balboa Park for a picnic. I joined the walk and the staff member who pushed my husband in the wheelchair a couple of blocks over to Balboa Park. It was a very amazing activity, where we listen to music we all probably knew, or given lunches that were appropriate for each resident and their dietary needs, we played several games of bingo, and the picnic was enjoyed by all. I am sure. I feel fortunate that I was able to take the time out of my busy day to come and be with my husband and the other residence who joined in. The lunch was off the charts and the care that they give To each person is commendable. I feel blessed that my husband is here at Balboa. Thank you.
